Some songs become so widely used as samples in other hit songs that we often lose track of their origins. One of the shining examples of this is the song "Daydream" - popularized in television commercials featuring acts like I Monster and rapper Lupe Fiasco.
The original version of "Daydream," however, was recorded in 1968 by a largely forgotten Belgian band, known as The Wallace Collection.
Taking a melody from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, the song has since been covered and sampled by a multitude of other musicians. In fact, several of the more popular incarnations of the song are not even samples of the original at all, but of an easy-listening cover of the song.
